Going Deeper into Yoga by Kenzie 6:15-7:15pm
Going deeper: exploring a wider view of yoga through the practices of pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and relaxation. The familiar, contemporary posture-based ‘yoga’ of the West is just one foundational aspect of the classical eightfold (ashtanga) path of union (or yoga). It includes practical methods to build on the foundation of our physical practice, helping us come into relationship with our own depths of stillness and wise knowing.
Each class will begin with gentle mindful movements to prepare the body for seated breath work and meditation, followed by moving meditation and guided relaxation. Each week we will review and add new meditations and breathing practices to allow each student the possibility to cultivate a unique home practice that best serves their needs.
