Meet Your Coaches

Briana Kelly

Practicing Kinesiologist and Strength Coach B. kin, BCAK, SFG2

I’m a Kinesiologist and movement enthusiast with a love for strength and kettlebells. I was born and raised in North Vancouver and strive to connect and collaborate with students and practitioners in my community.

I received my Bachelor of Science with Honours in Kinesiology from Queen’s University. I have since committed to expanding my education and am passionate about sharing these tools with others, including students and other professionals.

As a BCAK Practicing Kinesiologist I offer rehabilitation and performance services. My favourite tool is the kettlebell. I completed the Strongfirst SFG Level 2 kettlebell certification in 2018 and have continued to practice with my students as well as travel to teach kettlebell workshops to coaches. I love kettlebells because the principles, mindfulness, and skills are applicable to rehab, performance training, and everything in between. I am also experienced with chronic pain and concussion management.

When I’m not swinging kettlebells, you’ll find me skiing the deep powder of the BC mountains or sipping hazy IPA by the flight with fellow Kinesiologist, Jessica Pastro. Good movement is rehab, good movement is performance, and good movement leads to happiness. I can’t wait to welcome you into our community. Cheers!

Jessica Pastro

Practicing Kinesiologist and Strength Coach B.Kin, BCAK, SFG1

I am a Kinesiologist who provides strength-training and active-rehabilitation. I am passionate about helping individuals reach their strength-training and movement-specific goals but more importantly, I want to empower you to take on any endeavour you choose with strength and confidence.

I received my Bachelor’s in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia in 2017. However, my passion for movement came long before that. Movement training for me began when I was 2 years-old on the ice rink. I have competed in many sports but I dedicated most of my time and energy into Ringette, where I represented Team Canada at the Junior National Championships.

I strive to keep up with the latest research in human movement, injury prevention and optimal performance. During my career I have attended many courses and conferences including FMS, Prehab 101, and Strongfirst’s Kettlebell Certification. My coaching includes a combination of knowledge that I’ve learned from each of these courses.

When I’m not swinging kettlebells you can find me at the local breweries, cheers!

Andrea Brennan

Practicing Kinesiologist, Strength and Conditioning Coach BSc.in ATT, BCAK, CSCS, SFG2, FMS2

My name is Andrea and one of my greatest joys in life, apart from my daughter, is helping people. My goal is to help you feel better, move with less pain and more confidence.

I am originally from Dublin, Ireland. I moved to Vancouver in 2011, and immediately fell in love with the mountains, the ocean and the lifestyle. If I am not in the gym, you'll find me hiking, running, cycling or sitting in one of the North shore breweries.

I graduated from Dublin City University in 2009 with a BSc. in Athletic Therapy and Training and I have been working in the industry since then. Shortly after moving to Canada, I was introduced to kettlebells. I passed my first kettlebell coaching certification with Strongfirst in 2014 and have never looked back. I love the principles of kettlebell training and their versatility. Kettlebells can take you from rehab to strength!

I believe that research based, intelligent training isn't just for athletes, it's for everyone! That's why I am committed to furthering my education to bring you the most up to date information available. I am and will forever be a student! I have taken courses and workshops on assessments and screening, injury prevention and management and performance. In 2018, I was fortunate to be a speaker at the Nelson Fitness Forum.

My training style is about educating you on how to move better so you can apply those skills to your daily life! But most of all, it's important that we have fun along the way. I love to challenge my clients in a safe manner. For me quality of movement will always trump quantity!

Geoffrey Soo

Personal trainer, Strength & Conditioning Coach

My fitness journey began with a strong foundation in sports, particularly hockey, where training, practices, and gym sessions became integral. This experience fueled my interest in the impact of physical health and nutrition on the body. In athletics or in our daily lives, having the freedom of pain-free movement allows us to do all the things we enjoy most.

Though my career initially led me in a different direction, it presented personal challenges that affected my physical and mental well-being. This adversity ultimately steered me back to fitness and athletics, leading to a transformative journey that improved both my physical and mental health.

Now, as a dedicated personal trainer specializing in functional fitness and athletic development, I assist clients in achieving their health and fitness goals. With a focus on athletics, I offer personalized and continuously assessed programs to ensure safe progression and lasting results.

Whether you are a competitive athlete striving for peak performance or seeking to improve their overall movement, I am committed to guiding you toward your goals. With my knowledge, expertise, and passion for fitness, I am confident in helping you become the best version of yourself.

Christina Carrick

practicing Kinesiologist, STRENGTH & conditioning coach B. KIN, SFg1, SFB

I am a Kinesiologist who is keen to help people move better and more confidently, so they can enjoy doing the things that matter most to them. I believe in lifelong learning, and I strive to bring the most current and evidence-based science to my practice.

I spent my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s working as a computer scientist and raising a family. I then became frustrated with injuries as I tried to return to my pre-baby activity levels, and thought “this shouldn’t be normal!” I decided to return to school to learn about fitness, personal training and kinesiology. I fell in love with the science of human movement and all the things bodies can do. I joined a gym and learned how empowering it was to lift heavy things; I practiced with kettlebells and obtained my StrongFirst certification; I learned I can do a 1-arm pushup!

Seeing the look on someone’s face when they achieve something they’d previously thought out of reach is among my favourite moments. It is my goal to have these moments with each of my clients, whether it’s achieving their first pull-up or sitting on the floor playing with their grandchildren.

In addition to kinesiology, I enjoy running, martial arts, knitting, and losing to my son at Scrabble.
